breast cancer facts in 2022

  • About 1 in 8 U.S. women will develop invasive breast cancer over the course her lifetime. That is 12.4 %
  • It's estimated that about of cancers diagnosed in women will breast cancers making it the most commonly diagnosed cancer among American women, after skin cancer.
  • Approximately, 85% of women diagnosed with breast cancer will not have a family history of breast cancer. 
  • In 2022 an estimated 287, 850 new cases invasive  breast cancer and 51, 4100 non invasive breast cancer will be diagnosed in women. 
  • Male breast cancer is rare. It is estimated that 2, 710 men will be diagnosed with breast cancer. 


Signs and Symptoms:

  • A lump or swelling, which is usually  (not always) painless
  • Skin dimpling or puckering
  • Nipple retraction
  • Redness or scaling of the nipple or breast skin

Risk factors for women

  • Being a woman
  • Aging (growing older)
  • Dense Breast
  • Alcohol
  • Hormone replacement therapy
  • Menstruation before age 12

Risk factors for men

  • Obesity
  • Alcohol
  • Aging (growing older)
  • Liver Disease
  • Inherited gene mutations
  • Family history of breast cancer
